Fallout 76 will be letting players start the apocalypse early, with the announcement of dates for the game’s B.E.T.A. test.
Usually these kinds of short-window early marks are called a beta period, but the Fallout developers love their abbreviations — it stands for “Break-It Early Test Application”.
But first, the Official In-Game Intro for Fallout 76 has also been revealed — let’s take a look.
Fallout 76 made headlines at E3 this year with the announcement that the game would move away from the traditional single-player model and into a multiplayer-centric experience.
The B.E.T.A. will allow enthusiastic Vault Dwellers an early look at the game before it launches, and participate in Bethesda’s server stress test. B.E.T.A. access is only permitted to those who have pre-ordered the title so if you haven’t pre-ordered yet and you want in, you know what to do.
Xbox One players will be allowed to dip their toes into the “Appalachia” (Or, Nuclear West Virginia) region earlier than those on other systems, with the Xbox One B.E.T.A. starting on Tuesday, October 23rd. For those on Windows PC and Playstation 4, the B.E.T.A. will commence on Tuesday, October 30th.
Fallout 76 will then release Wednesday, November 14th. The really great news for B.E.T.A. participants is that there’s won’t be any server wipes ahead of launch — character progress from the B.E.T.A. period will carry on into the game upon release.
