343 Industries revealed the latest look at Halo Infinite overnight, presenting an action-packed look at what Halo fans can expect from the campaign, when it launches on December 8. Accompanied by that sweet, glorious Halo theme, we get to see Master Chief embark on a quest to track down what remains of Cortana, as the Banished have captured a new Halo.
Most of the new gameplay looks and feels familiar, and while the delay was unfortunate, seems to have brought a gorgeous level of shine and detail to the fold. Environments also come with the promise of being larger than ever. This will hopefully prompt a layer of exploration and depth we have not yet seen in a Halo title. The action is fierce and fast-paced, allowing the Chief to wield a number of both new and iconic weapons in battle.
The unprecedented freedom also extends to Master Chief’s method of approach. Players can take down the Banished in any way they choose, as you take out facilities, camps and reinforcements along your journey. A plethora of upgrades also allow players to enhance and customise certain abilities for the upper hand in battle. Complete with a neat grappling hook, Master Chief can now rope in enemies and scale environments with an added sense of verticality.
343 Industries is ever so delicately balancing the line, that pushes the franchise forward into new and interesting environments and gameplay mechanics, all while remaining faithful to the DNA of previous title. While things look and feel familiar, we’re pretty sure Master Chief has a few tricked tucked up that green armoured sleeve. Check it out for yourself in the trailer below:
