The Birdman has returned. Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 1 and 2 finally remasters the first two games in the legendary series.
Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 1 and 2 launches on PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC via the Epic Games Store on September 4, 2020. Fans who preorder the game get early access to a demo featuring THPS1’s famous Warehouse level. The compilation contains all of the content from both games, including all the secret levels.
Behind the remaster is Vicarious Visions, a developer very familiar with the series. Vicarious spent years porting THPS games to handhelds and other consoles. Vicarious has been a reliable studio for Activision, finding huge success porting the Guitar Hero and Skylanders franchises to handheld consoles and the Nintendo Wii.
In an interview with IGN, VV studio head Jen Oneal said that while the remake does include a few modern changes — the introduction of reverts and a tweaking of the controls to account for control sticks — the core of the experience remains the same, down to familiar mission objectives like Collect S-K-A-T-E and finding secret tapes. Oneal also says that most of the thundering soundtrack will return, with only a handful of tracks omitted due to licensing difficulties.
