World of Warcraft: Battle for Azeroth launches August 14

World of Warcraft‘s seventh expansion pack, Battle for Azeroth, will let slip the dogs of war on August 14 bringing with it a slew of new locations, new races and new mechanics.

Battle for Azeroth sees a renewed conflict between the Alliance and Horde forces in the wake of Legion’s brutal incursion. The discovery of Azerite, a new and valuable resource has reopened the rift between the two factions, the terse peace they brokered during the Legion expansion now well and truly over.

Among the expansion’s many new features are two new kingdoms, Zandalar and Kul Tiras, new playable races like the Highmountain Tauren, Void Elves and Dark Iron Dwarves, and new modes like Warfront, a 20 player co-op mode in which players must secure strategic locations and lay siege to enemy fortifications in a throwback to Warcraft‘s real-time strategy roots.

Beyond this, there are Island Expeditions that see groups of three heading out in search of loot and resources to prop up the war effort, and the level cap will see another jump to Level 120, along with new dungeons, raids and quests to undertake.

Standard and Collector’s Editions are available for pre-order now through the Battle.net app, the official Battle for Azeroth site and your nearest games retailer.
