The new Xbox Aqua Shift controller is excessively pretty and we want one

Xbox Aqua Shift

The new Xbox Aqua Shift Special Edition is the latest to join a growing roster of striking coloured controllers.

Xbox has moved to capitalise on a growing contingent of fans eager to collect controllers. It’s a mindset similar to that of sneaker collectors — the goal is not to use these controllers, only to have them and display them. The rarest controllers are coveted, and those with unique traits are highly sought after. Aqua Shift falls into this latter category.

The Aqua Shift Xbox controller features a pearlescent colour paint job, meaning the colour changes as you turn it over. Each digital colour swirl is unique to each individual unit. Further, the controller also features rubberised side-grips, similar to the Elite Controller Series 2. The triggers, bumper buttons, and rear panel of the controller have been rubberised. To date, this is the first Xbox controller to use these rubberised components.

As with all Xbox wireless controllers, the Aqua Shift will work with Xbox Series X, Xbox Series X, and Xbox One consoles. You can also connect it to your PC with a USB-C cable.

You’ll be able to grab one of these bad boys on September 14, 2021 from your friendly local electronics retailer. Pre-orders are open right now. You can find out more over on the official Xbox Wire blog.
