MCA hosts pop-up Gin Garden for summer (Sydney)

Renowned UK artist Grayson Perry is going to have a big presence at the Museum of Contemporary Art in Sydney this summer season, with his exhibition My Pretty Little Art Career featuring from 10th December 2015 to 1st May 2016. To accompany and celebrate this big moment for MCA, the street-level entrance has just grown a pop-up Gin Garden inspired by the spirited works of Perry and offering up Sydney something hugely weather appropriate to shake off those glaring rays.

Sydney distillery Archie Rose and local craft brewers Young Henrys have come on board to help oversee this pop-up, which is open Thursdays to Sundays from 4pm till late and is described as “the ultimate celebration of British eccentricity with a twist of Antipodean flair”.

Of course, the leafy, floral space is the perfect showcase for breezy cocktails using local ingredients and Archie Rose’ Signature Dry Gin as well as YH’s brilliant Noble Gut Gin. The drinks menu focuses on many different botanicals, of which you’ll be able to spot displayed on trays along the sightly bar.

Food wise, those heading along can expect oysters, salmon, sandwiches, and more, all focused on mirroring the freshness of these mostly sweet, drinkable cocktails.

The Gin Garden coincides with the MCA’s Sydney International Art Series exhibition Grayson Perry: My Pretty Little Art Career – the first major survey in the Southern hemisphere of the works of one of Britain’s most acclaimed contemporary artists (10 Dec 2015 – 1 May 2016). The Gin Garden is open from now until early February 2016
