THE BIG MOON

This all-girl outfit out of London are making some sweet indie-rock music that has you swooning through one bar and head banging the next. Bold and articulate, these chicks sound like they’re straight out the 90’s with their low-fi guitars and punk-rock attitude. The Big Moon’s debut album, Love In The 4th Dimension, is set to be released on April 7 through Fiction Records/Caroline Australia, and was co-produced by Catherine Marks (Foals, Wolf Alice) and lead singer Juliette Jackson.

Alongside the announcement, the band have also released new single, “Formidable”. Check it out below and pre-order their forthcoming album HERE!

TIM DARCY

Venturing away from his post-rock band, Ought, to explore solo work, Arizona-born Tim Darcy has announced his debut album Saturday Night will be dropping February 17th and is available for pre-order HERE. Although Darcy’s familiar, droning vocals are reminiscent of Ought tracks, he’s transformed to a more anticipatory and up-beat style of indie-rock.

Listening to the lead single from the album, “Tall Glass of Water”, you can hear a shift in inspiration and approach. Saturday Night evolved from Darcy celebrating how good it feels to make art, and how wonderful it can be to feel in touch with an inner current that doesn’t necessarily tell you if you’re swimming or drowning. Explore the introspective title tacks and listen to “Tall Glass of Water” below!

2. Joan Pt 1, 2
3. You Felt Comfort

CIRCA WAVES

Liverpool rockers Circa Waves are returning heavier and louder with their second album, Different Creatures, due March 10th, following their 2015 debut Young Chasers. Following the overwhelming hype off the back of their debut that reached audiences internationally (i.e. us), the guys were encouraged to delve into a deeper and bolder sound.

If the first single is anything to go by, the beefier shift suits the four-piece well and should make for a blisteringly good rock record. Check out “Wake Up” below!

JENN GRANT

Today this Candian folk sweetheart announced that her sixth studio album, Paradise, will be released March 3rd via Ba Da Bing Records. Jenn Grant has wrapped up almost a decade of releasing dynamic, genre-defying music that has landed her three East Coast Music Awards and nominations for two Juno Awards.

This time round, Grant is focusing largely on her singing, and exploring the power in it’s softness. We’ll see tracks that reach out with world-weary awareness, most evident in the first track released from the album, “Galaxies”. Have a listen below!

ALEX L’ESTRANGE

Brisbane’s Alex L’Estrange is quickly becoming a household name since indie-pop numbers “Trip Wire” and “Mr.Mild”,  both uploaded to Triple J Unearthed over the last year, won the hearts of listeners nation-wide.

After time spent practicing, listening, writing and learning, as well as some cheeky touring alongside Holy Holy for their Darwinism national tour, L’Estrange has announced his debut EP, Auchenflower, will be released December 16th (that’s soon! keep an eye out!). L’Estrange’s somber vocals float atop fuzzy guitars, punching through a psychedelic haze in his new single, “Nothing To Hide”. Check it out below!
