It is a true fact that all musicians strive for perfection and when it comes to this nature, it is almost a necessity for all of them to be driven and motivated in order to create exceptional tracks .With her success in Speak For Yourself and Ellipse, Imogen Heap dazzles the world again with her newest album, Sparks.
The electro-pop queen has been consistent with her previous albums and it goes to show that she is one hard-working lady. Her exuberant effort into providing unique tracks that stand out from the crowd, brings a positive light to her image as a successful indie-experimental artist with her interesting usage of contemporary elements.
Hearing “You Know Where To Find Me” for the first time brought me into an ultimate euphoric mood. Imogen’s vocals are practically flawless and the music accompanied in the track just entails it so nicely and gracefully. The piano introduction eases listeners until the progressive build up of ambient elements, making this number even more intriguing. The lyrics share a sentimental nature as well which many will find beautiful.
“The Listening Chair” shows great rhythm and is one of the catchiest tracks off the album. The vibrant atmosphere it brings to the album adds an even more spectacular spectrum to the canvas, with incredible acapella and illuminating timing. With another incredible masterpiece, “The Cycle Song”, ultimately brings you a strong cultural aspect to the album. When I first heard it, it gave me a surge of wanderlust as its synchronisation of the instruments being used in this song gave it a different flavour and texture to the album, let’s just say that the track gives off the “out of this world” feeling, the feeling you get when you’re away from home and in a different country with a picturesque scenery.
Although very different from her previous albums, Imogen is definitely carrying the cupid arrow because once you start listening to this album, consider yourself hopelessly in love with it for a while.
Review Score: 8.5 out of 10
