The 2016 South Australian Music Awards is taking place in a few weeks at the Norwood Concert Hall – the now completely sold out event set to recognise the talented individuals doing SA proud throughout the year. Today, Music SA announced that MC’ing the official ceremony on November 11th will be multi-instrumentalist Adam Page and BIGSOUND programmer, artist manager and triple j Unearthed’s Maggie Collins.
After teasing an exciting line up of musicians to be taking over the live entertainment side of things, Music SA have also come through with their plans for the awards night this year; performances will be handled by nominees Electric Fields and MANE, while the Derringers Adelaide All-Star Band has been assembled by Musical Director Ross McHenry to include an eight-piece band (with string quartet) and 13-member choir. Special guests will also include the likes of Jesse Davidson, Bad//Dreems, Taasha Coates, Oisima, Naomi Keyte and more. The All-Star Band will be covering all nominated songs in the 2016 Best Song category – no doubt going to be bringing up some killer interpretations.
“I can’t wait to join the legends of the amazing South Australian music scene who are absolutely killing it,” Collins has said. “It’s going to be awesome to see performances from such a diverse range of artists and celebrate the achievements of a sturdy community of music-makers.”
Stay tuned for some more updates on this one, it’s gonna be huge.
