Creepers (Sydney)

Creepers are a Sydney all girl 5 piece deathproof style rock
band who love nothing more then getting on stage and singing about
badass bitches. Fronted by the gorgeous Laura Noir with Georgia-Ray on
Bass, Emmie on guitar and Holly and Alex on drums.

The girls are influenced by, The Cramps attitude ,Iggy Pop’s full
frontal rock, lady Ga Gas bootyliciousness and Sweet Honey In the Rocks
african beats. These girls are not afraid to make a really loud noise.

The girls have played at venues such as The Annandale, The Roxybury,
The Vanguard and Melt Bar, each time bringing a big crowd who has
danced and all night and usually woken up somewhere in Darlington
wondering what happened.

Dirt Farmer (Melbourne) – WINNERS!

Roll up your swag. Dust off your denim. Burn your banjos and start a rock and roll band – that is what Dirt Farmer have done. The four-piece band, comprising of brothers Stuart and Thomas Barlow with friends Chris Wright and Patch Oram, have all relocated to Melbourne since uniting in high school in Albury-Wodonga.

Dirt Farmer’s sound combines gritty yet crisp guitars, sharp drum grooves, smooth bass lines complemented with handclaps and harmonies. They’ve been described as “The Velvet Underground on less smack and more sunshine, with hints of The Rolling Stones, The Band, and The Brian Jonestown Massacre.”

SOLO ARTISTS

Anthony Hughes (Sydney)

Anthony Hughes is a Sydney based singer songwriter armed with a diverse debut EP called “The Best Damn Ep” featuring one helluva quirky first single titled “Best Damn Wiggle”. He somehow crosses the divide of being serious and intense whilst keeping it fun and entertaining. This diversity has been likened to acts such as Lilly Allen, Newton Faulkner and The Whitlam’s yet with a dark witty sense of humour like Dennis Leary. Sonically his music has been compared to a fusion of One Republic, The Counting Crows and Jason Mraz,

Charming, witty, independent and proud of it, Anthony Hughes and his band “The International Love Experiment” have been captivating audience across Sydney. At the end of 2009 they won the Prestigious Piano Room Songwriters Competition which saw them recording in the Iconic Studio 301. In 2008 he was nominated for Singer Songwriter of the year for the Music Oz Awards (labeled the unsigned ARIAS) and finalist in the stage to studio competition. In 2009 he spent much time in studios with producers such as Anthony Field (Radio Ink), Sean Carey (Thirsty Merc (Warner)) and Ben Holman Richards IV (Porcelain (Universal)).

Dan Webb (Melbourne) – WINNER!

Dan Webb is a 21 year-old alternative rock force to be reckoned with. His style isn’t dictated by the traditional six-string, instead he opts for the keys. Webb’s deliverance in style is captured on his forthcoming sophomore EP titled ‘Hyperspace Clearance’ – in stores September 17 through MGM Distribution.

Webb’s live presence is second to none, having already supported Davey Lane’s (You Am I) The Pictures in December 2009 and more recently The Cuckoos (feat. Quang and Tom from Little Red). The live experience, Dan says, always contains a sense of spontaneity. “I’ve got a great band and I like to keep them on their toes so if I want to extend an instrumental jam or something… we’ll just go for it. Each show’s bursting with frenetic energy – it’s no dismal affair”.

Wintercoats (Ballarat)

Wintercoats is a very accurate name when describing the etherel, atmospheric music of Multi-Instrumentalist James Wallace. Starting in 2009, James began composing various string arrangements as well as solo piano pieces , before expanding into other instruments, beginning the Wintercoats project. His debut EP “Cathedral” (http://wintercoats.bandcamp.com) was released in 2010 to a positive reception, relying on string heavy sections, whimsical vocal harmonies, and reverb heavy orchestral based arrangements, crafting ethereal dream pop. Opting to play solo, he performs through the live sampling of piano, strings, percussion, vocals and a swag full of other instruments to recreate his music live.
