20.

In 2011, this Melbourne based band became fast favourites of the live scene, with their catchy riffs, energetic stage presence and tracks like this one, which stick with you long after you turn it off…

The Fearless Vampire Killers – Tell Me What You’re Trying To Say

19.

Melbourne’s Sophia Brous popularity was never a sure thing. Her vocals are daring, her music adventurous and it would be hard to call it “catchy”. Though, it seems to be paying off, with the artist gaining a huge amount of support from the industry and the public around the country. And thank goodness for that… it’s wonderful to see someone legitimately unique making strides in the music scene…

Brous – Streamers

18.

A beautiful track from a beautiful album. Nothing more to say, really… listen below!

Bon Iver – Holocene

17.

Catchy track + wonderful film clip = success! Bluejuice have done it again…

Bluejuice – Act Yr Age

16.

Gossip’s Beth Ditto put out an EP this year? Though it was a rather quiet release, the track “I Wrote The Book” got plenty of love, and bodes for an interesting future for both her own material and that of the Gossip.

Beth Ditto – I Wrote The Book

15.

Touted by many as the “next big thing”, Azealia Banks prepares for world domination with “212” and repeated use of the word “cunt”. It’s a thug life.

Azealia Banks – 212

14.

What is there not to love about Hayley and The Jezabels? A song released in the Winter that is bound to become an anthem of the Summer anyway, “Endless Summer” is one of the catchiest and most enjoyable tracks the Sydney band have released to date. And that’s saying something…

The Jezabels – Endless Summer

13.

Off the highly acclaimed Vacation, Big Scary’s “Gladiator” is one hell of a track. Listen up!

Big Scary – Gladiator

12.

We have money. Here’s a song about how bitchin’ it is to have a shitload of money in a recession. Sure, it’s a bit of a dick move, but damn if it isn’t a fun-as-hell track. An easy choice for many-a-top-10 list of 2011 – though it didn’t quite make our overall top 10. Word is Ye and Jay will be recording another album together… that would be pretty sweet indeed. Here’s hoping for more Aziz Ansari cameos.

Jay Z & Kanye West – Otis

11.

A relentlessly catchy track, Guineafowl’s “In Our Circles”, off of their debut EP High Anxiety, has been playing in our offices for months now. 2012 is looking to a be a pretty sweet year for the Sydney based six-piece, and we certainly can’t wait to finally get a full length out of Sam and the gang…

Guineafowl – In Our Circles
