Well, after another brilliantly executed social media campaign that sparked the interest of the Beyhive and anyone with any passing interest in anything Beyoncé, Lemonade has finally been revealed.
Coming to fans in the form of a hotly anticipated HBO Special, the Lemonade special showed a whole album’s worth of visuals and new songs. The album itself was released onto TIDAL following the end of the special – 12 songs of new Beyoncé material featuring the likes of The Weeknd, James Blake, Kendrick Lamar and Jack White throughout.
The imagery is powerful, the lyrical matter confrontational enough to no doubt provoke many think pieces and blog posts from all corners in coming weeks. As TIDAL describes, Lemonade is ‘a conceptual project based on every woman’s journey of self knowledge and healing’ – possibly some of Beyoncé’s most forward and unabashedly honest material yet.
