The eyes of the music world will turn to Brisbane tomorrow when the annual three-day BIG SOUND music industry conference and festival hits town. And of course the AU review will be there covering it all!

Named by The Music Network as “the country’s pre-eminent music conference”, BIG SOUND delegates will hear from some of the world’s leading music industry figures, and see 60 of the country’s finest artists performing in six Fortitude Valley venues across two nights as part of the public BIG SOUND Live urban music festival.

And the event will be officially opened at 10.00am tomorrow morning by Premier and Minister for the Arts the Hon Anna Bligh MP at The Judith Wright Centre, Brunswick St, Fortitude Valley.

Now in its ninth year, BIG SOUND’s conference program of panels and keynotes reinforce its reputation as a must-attend event for artists and industry alike.

Featuring dozens of world-class speakers, the most important issues facing artists and the music industry today will be in the spotlight including overseas touring, new business models, publishing, communicating with fans, mastering, songwriting and the tricks to putting on a great live show.

BIG SOUND’s first official day tomorrow will feature special keynote presentations from US author and journalist Michael Azerrad, and Chairman of the Mushroom Group Michael Gudinski.

The full conference program is online now at www.bigsound.org.au

Tomorrow night also marks the launch of the two-night public BIG SOUND Live festival – with organisers proud to announce one of Australia’s most respected artists Dan Kelly will join the line-up alongside critically acclaimed Melbourne band, Oh Mercy.

A limited number of BIG SOUND Live tickets are still available but moving fast – so now is the time to grab the hottest tickets of the year. At only $44 (+bf) for both nights, that’s access to 60 bands at $0.73 cents a pop. That’s cheaper than any festival you have been to before, guaranteed.

The line-up also includes sets from Washington, Children Collide, The Naked & Famous, The Vasco Era, Boy & Bear, The John Steel Singers, Parades, Ernest Ellis, The Gin Club, Last Dinosaurs and many more on across six venues – including two outdoor stages.

Tickets are on sale now with full details and schedules available at www.bigsound.org.a

BIG SOUND, an initiative of peak industry body Q Music, is proudly supported by the Queensland Government through a major sponsorship by Trade and Investment Queensland and through Arts Queensland.
