Bonnaroo gets started with Thursday night festivities featuring Jade Bird, Elohim & more

Bonnaroo kicked off Thursday with its usual lineup that eases in the action with under the radar and emerging acts. While most of the expected 80,000 guests to attend the festival haven’t arrived, Thursday night offers an amazing opportunity and showcase to open the festival and gain thousands of new fans. Such bands that have graced Bonnaroo’s Thursday lineup in the past have included Glass Animals, Alt-J, Avett Brothers and many, many more. Here are three highlights of Day One…

Jade Bird

This British singer-songwriter is definitely the front runner for most adorable act of the fest. With just a guitar and two trips to the piano the young songstress rocked the smallest stage of the festival and won the hearts of everyone in attendance.

R.Lum.R

The highlight of this set was when this R&B crooner reminisced on two years prior standing in the crowd at Bonnaroo and longing to be on the very stage he was performing from. His soulful voice played perfectly to the late night Thursday crowd and his cover of Frank Ocean’s “Thinking of You” blew them all away.

Elohim

This enigmatic singer took the stage alone with a full keyboard set and a dynamic visual background. The bass was definitely bumping and she put on a great dance show for the people who didn’t care about pacing themselves for the long weekend.

Friday’s highlights include Muse, Paramore, Sturgill Simpson and many, many more.
