The ALWAYS LIVE program has dropped and this year is looking to be even bigger and better than ever.
Taking place across Victoria from November 24th to December 10th, this epic 17-day state-wide celebration of live music is the largest event of its kind in the Southern Hemisphere.
A diverse roster of top-tier international artists to our shores playing alongside some of the finest live music talents Australia has to offer- there is sure to be something for everybody.
One of the biggest acts to grace the line-up, Christina Aguilera, will be kicking off festivities in a one-night-only show at Flemington Racecourse on Saturday the 25th of November. This is the first time the six-time Grammy Award-winning US singer, songwriter, activist, actor, and icon has graced our shores since 2007.
The line-up is too massive to include all the highlights here but some of the key metro moments include Swedish DJ and producer Eric Prydz bringing his acclaimed HOLO show, Intimate Audiences with UK superstar Jessie Ware and rising Aussie singer/songwriter Angie McMahon and UK-Indian songwriter and producer Jai Paul playing a rare run of shows.
Other artists include US alt-pop diva Caroline Polachek and of course, the BLAKTIVISM which features King Stingray bringing together a range of First Nations artists including Tasman Keith, Emma Donovan, Uncle Bart Willoughby, Deline Briscoe, Sorong Samarai and Suga Cane Mamas. There are also showcases featuring The Cat Empire, Tones and I, The Veronicas, Budjerah and Ru Paul’s Drag Race alumni Trixie Mattel.
That is just the beginning.
Out in the regional areas, it also gets wild. With Amyl and the Sniffers going on tour with Dumb Punts, Peter Garrett taking his new band The Alter Egos out to Wangaratta Arts Centre and Cosmic Psychos taking over Castlemaine for their 40th Anniversary. The supports across the weekend include The Chats, Blowers, Affordable Repayments, Dead Clampets, Pat Todd (USA), The Prize, Thee Cha Cha Chas, Southeast Desert Metal and Boondall Boys.
Down in Shepparton A.B. Original headlines a massive free show at Victoria Park Lake. It will include support from the electrifying Yorta Yorta/ Kalkadoon/Yirendali performer Miss Kaninna, Yorta Yorta Kaieltheban songwriter, hip hop artist and producer, DRMNGNOW and with even more artists to be announced.
With even more acts than can be included in one article and even more to be announced in the lead-up, ALWAYS LIVE is continuing to solidify that Victoria is not just the home of sport, but the Australian home of live music too.
“An event like ALWAYS LIVE is what makes our great city what it is. The ALWAYS LIVE program ensures Victoria remains the music capital of Australia and will deliver a host of unique and exclusive experiences across seventeen days,” states ALWAYS LIVE Board Director Matt Gudinski.
