Cold Chisel announced this week a massive 50 year anniversary celebration with The Big Five-0 tour.
The undeniable impact “Chisel” have had on the Aussie rock scene in their half century really goes without saying. So what better way to kick of the celebration of the bands legacy than to take it all the way back to where it started? The Big Five-0 tour kicks off on Saturday, 5 October in Armidale, where the band based themselves back in 1974-1975. Then, lapping around major Australian cities for 7 weeks the tour concludes on Sunday, 17 November in the same city where the band formed: Adelaide.
With plenty of surprises, a little bit of theatre and some nostalgia to boot, shows in Sydney, Brisbane and Melbourne will feature nods to the bands 1982 An Evening with the Circus Animals shows. Performed under a Big Top tent, the aesthetic will be complete with floor and bleacher seating and GA standing area across the rear half of the venue.
Not to miss out, Armidale, Perth and Ballarat will be treated to special guest performances from Birds of Tokyo and 90’s legends The Superjesus. For the tour’s grand finale they will headline the post-race concert after the VAILO Adelaide 500 Supercars event.
Piano player and chief songwriter Don Walker said:
“We’ll be going all out to celebrate a milestone birthday like this. Bookending the tour in the two places where we first welded the band together, building these circus tent shows in 3 cities, bringing along some great guests and doing a set which reaches back across our whole song catalogue should all make “The Big Five-0” a tour to remember.”
