Tropical Cyclone Alfred has been slowly making his way towards the East Coast over the last few days, with the latest estimates suggesting he’ll be making landfall on the Sunshine Coast in the early hours of Saturday morning.
With Brisbane music venues closing to protect staff, patrons, performers, and property, a slew of gigs have been cancelled or postponed while we wait. Here’s a list of what we’ve seen so far – depending on what happens over the next few days, we might see more added or updated further. If your event isn’t listed, keep an eye on your emails and on the venue and performers’ socials for more up to date info. As a general rule, if it’s scheduled for this weekend, it’s probably safe to assume it’s not happening!
Riverstage, Brisbane
Oh, Riverstage. As soon as the word “flooding” was mentioned, we all knew how this was going to go down for you.
Saturday’s Alexisonfire and Underoath gig has been moved to next weekend, and has been split across two nights at the Fortitude Music Hall. As we understand it, Ticketmaster is currently working through transferring the original tickets to the new dates (refunds will be available if you can’t make either of them), and a general sale for any remaining tickets will kick off next Wednesday.
Fortitude Music Hall, Fortitude Valley
The Fortitude Music Hall started cancelling shows earlier this week, with Wednesday’s Magdalena Bay gig and Thursday’s AFI sideshow becoming the venue’s first victims of Cyclone Alfred.
Stone Temple Pilots on March 7th and New Bloom Fest on March 8th have now also been cancelled.
Fortitude Music Hall’s Facebook posts about the cancellations state that tickets bought through Ticketmaster should be automatically refunded in the next couple of weeks, with no action required on the purchaser’s part.
The GOOD news is that the Fortitude Music Hall will now play host to the rescheduled Alexisonfire shows next weekend!
The Tivoli, Fortitude Valley
Tonight’s Oliver Anthony show has been pushed back to Tuesday March 11th, while Beatles tribute The Fab Four will now take place on Monday March 10th.
The Courteneers gig for Saturday night has been cancelled.
Ticketmaster is handling refunds and reschedules for these events.
Crowbar Brisbane, Fortitude Valley
Tonight’s Chillinit show with JJ4K has been postponed until April 3rd. The Delta Heavy show on March 8th has also been postponed, though there’s no sign of a new date yet.
Oztix will be managing all refunds and reschedules.
Black Bear Lodge, Fortitude Valley
We can’t find any information about specific events that have been cancelled or rescheduled at Black Bear Lodge, so if you had tickets for a show this weekend, check your emails for updates from the promoters/ticket agents.
According to their Instagram, Black Bear Lodge is closed on Friday night, but the team are awaiting Alfred’s arrival before making a decision on Saturday.
Greaser, Fortitude Valley
The Greaser team are keeping a close eye on proceedings and, weather permitting, may open up on Saturday night. Here’s a list of (hopefully) everyone that was scheduled to perform this week – support some local talent and give them a stream while you wait for this all to blow over!

Moshtix will handle refunds, reschedules, and event updates – if you had tickets for any of these events, keep an eye on your emails for more information!
The Bearded Lady, West End
Thursday’s show, featuring The Evan J. Evans Quartet was cancelled earlier this week, while Friday night’s STAHR headline show has been postponed. The Harvey Frost Blues Explosion, Boiling Hot Politican, and Brunswick Street Parade shows on Saturday and Sunday have also been cancelled.
Princess Theatre, Woolloongabba
