Everything about this announcement makes us ecstatic. Even the press shot. Dappled Cities have today officially made their return, unveiling the first taste of what they’ve been working on for album number five in “That Sound” and some special single launch dates in Sydney and Melbourne this July.
From what we’ve now heard of the band’s new album, due out in October, it seems that Dappled Cities have taken a slightly more relaxed stance to making records, moving away from the stricter production behind their previous releases. Tim Derricourt comments on the band’s time in Byron Bay, where they made the new LP, “…taking all that we love about weirdo indie rock and adding some of that sweet 70s good time vibes to it – mellow beats, plenty of cowbell, layers of harmonies – true splendour.”
For fans in their hometown of Sydney and those a stone’s throw away in Melbourne, Dappled Cities are launching “That Sound” in July, hitting up the Oxford Art Factory and the Northcote Social Club. Tickets are on sale now through the band’s WEBSITE – check the details out below!
