Having toured successfully off the back of his 2013 debut solo release Translations, Darren Middleton has today announced the details of his sophomore album, entitled Splinters. The record is a continuation of Middleton’s branching out musically, as a solo musician, and further out from the shadow cast by the inevitable Australian musical legacy he contributed to as part of Powderfinger.
Middleton has said of his creative approach to this new album, “I’ve always felt that songwriting is about shaving off splinters of yourself and putting them into songs and for both Translations and Splinters, I have tried to do just that.”
Splinters will see release on November 6th, though fans who pre-order the album via iTunes will receive an automatic download of the first three singles and two unreleased tunes prior to the album’s release.
To celebrate the launch of Splinters, Middleton will return to his hometown of Brisbane for a special launch show at The Triffid. He’ll be joined by a number of his mates at the venue (owned by former Powderfinger bandmate John Collins), which will also be celebrating its first birthday. Joining him at the show will be Ian Haug (The Church & Powderfinger), Mark Wilson (Jet), Marty Brown (Clare Bowditch), Sahara Beck, Karl S Williams and more names still to be announced!
Tickets for the show are available through www.oztix.com.au!
