Emma Louise talks an honesty in music & returning to her craft (Part One)

Recently, Larry caught up with Emma Louise, three years on from their last chat at SXSW. Things have changed significantly for Emma since then – the success of her debut album vs Head vs Heart saw the songwriter on the road consistently and at the end of the tour cycle, there was some serious soul-searching to do, as we found out.

“Music was hurting me and I wanted out.” she admits. “I did that, I gave it a good old crack and tried a lot of other different stuff. I did a lot of travelling, I went on a lot of solo adventures and stuff. A lot of it was just trying to get away from stuff or even trying to get away from me, in a way. It was like a super quick thing, when I realised that I’ve been given this opportunity and it’s like my duty, I was supposed to make music. Once I realised that, the pressure melted away and I was like, ‘I’m just going to do what I love doing and do it honestly’.

As we look ahead to the release of Emma Louise’s much anticipated sophomore album Supercry, we find out more about how she returned to her craft and got to the creative place she’s at now.
