Blue Mountains four piece Sonori are celebrating the release of their debut EP, a record that has been a long time coming for the psych-rock group. Off the back of their single “Vanity”, Sonori have been continuing to stoke the fires of great momentum that have surrounded artists emerging from this particular pocket of NSW.
What the listener gets from the Sonori EP is a spacious and cinematic collection of music that showcases the band’s continuously refined sense of experimental rock music; having formed originally as an instrumental group, Sonori have got ample experience in putting the impact of music’s orchestration very much at the forefront behind them but just because they’ve expanded with vocals these days, that’s not to say that any of that original essence has been sacrificed.
Much the opposite.
“We’ve come to realise that in order to feel fulfilled and rewarded, we must throw away any self-doubt and fear,” the band has said of the making of Sonori. “[and] trust that whenever we jump in the ocean with friends, cool things will always happen. That’s this EP: it’s our first dive and the ocean is deep!”
