Takaakira “Taka” Goto is a composer based in Tokyo, Japan, who is also known as the lead guitarist and composer for Japanese group MONO. Today on Hello Asia! We’re excited to bring you Taka’s incredible debut solo record Classical Punk and Echoes Under the Beauty, streaming in full below, almost a week out from its official release! The records were originally written and recorded in 2003, but only finished and perfected for release this year.
“I wasnt actually thinking about sharing this album with anyone at the time. It didnt sound like MONO, so I left it as a trail to my envisioned world, as my personal collection,” Taka explains. The tracks sank into oblivion as Taka focused on MONO… and now, in 2015, they appear like a melancholic relic of the past. Taka decided to simply re-master these tracks, and to release them, as they were, in their raw, slightly shop-worn beauty. And here it is now for your listening pleasure:
