Adelaide indie rock group, The New Yorks, release their sophomore EP record I Wish I Was You, But That’s Just Me next Monday (July 31st) – a collection of material that is bound to have live audiences moving over the next few months. Drawn to their guitar driven approach to indie jams, The New Yorks instantly bring memories of partying at Transmission (if you’re an Adelaide local, you’ll know the vibe), while the songwriting craft indicates influences from the likes of The Wombats, The Strokes and on a level, Catfish & The Bottlemen, have been felt throughout the process in some way.
The progressions on the EP are frenetic, the vocals marry with instrumentation in a heady way The New Yorks have been fashioning a reputation for translating live brilliantly over recent shows. Take comfort in the chaos and fun and delve into I Wish I Was You, But That’s Just Me – it’s a fun ride to jump on.
