Adelaide producer Tim Whitt is a name known to many on the local scene, having been part of the live scene for many years now in different projects, but this year has been about Whitt honing his craft and music to be released under his own name.
On his new album Geisel (officially released tomorrow, October 13th), Whitt explores a sonic playground that has been available to him this entire time – Adelaide. Recording and absorbing sounds around him, whether it be the sounds of public transport, to sports finals, Whitt spent time documenting the soundscapes that filled every day in incorporating them with some rhythmic, eclectic beat production of his own.
The final result is an electro-dance record that encompasses Whitt’s influences brilliantly and displays the producer and sound designer’s penchant for approaching music just that little bit differently.
Recording Geisel at the St Paul’s Creative Centre in Adelaide, Whitt collaborated with a range of vocalists and instrumentalists in bringing this one together; injecting personal experiences and perceptions of Adelaide into the mix, Geisel is a representation of identity as much as anything else.
