Eora/Sydney based alternative-metal band Aurateque will be adding a new EP The Dragonfly Pursuit to their epic punk-rock metal fusion catalogue. We’re thrilled today to be premiering it ahead of its release on Friday, 28th July.
Aurateque sets themselves apart from the punk-rock and metal scene with their distinctive blend of metalcore instrumentals, skillfully entwined with smooth and captivating vocals. Their latest single ‘Renagade’ off the EP received a First Play on triple j’s short.fast.loud and has seen support from Apple Music, Kill Your Stereo, HEAVY Mag, and Australian Music Scene. They are no doubt a band to keep an eye on, as they have already secured a spot to perform at BIGSOUND this year, alongisde bands like The Omniphic and Battlesnake.
The EP was produced by Steve Balbi (Little River Band, Noiseworks)and mixed/mastered by Chris Blancato (Northlane, Reliqa).
About the creation of the EP, the band writes: “‘The Dragonfly Pursuit’ is a culmination of lessons learnt with time and pain. It touches on many topics like substance abuse, existentialism and fear of the unknown. Central themes include patterns you can’t undo and struggle to face, and becoming everything you hate.”
In their feature track “Genesis,” Aurateque showcases an epic dynamic, seamlessly transitioning from serene, mellow moments to intensely emotive and electrifying peaks, showcasing their exceptional versatility as a band.
The video was directed and edited by the band, with VFX elements done by Jack Pallett (Pallett Design). The band shares that the video “works in tandem with the lyrics ‘coming undone’.'”
Enjoy the stream of this explosive EP ahead of its release on Friday.
