Exclusive EP Premiere: Elestial – Delphinium (2024 EP)

Elestial

Newcastle’s Elestial formed in 2020 and has quickly established itself as one of the must-see live acts in town. They’ve released a handful of singles so far and are on the cusp of releasing their debut EP, Delphinium. We’re thrilled today to have the first spin of the EP ahead of its release on Friday.

Delphinium is a cracking listen. The lyrics are drawn from life experiences, beautifully chronicling the ups and downs of the journey into adulthood. The songwriting is impressively mature, with beautiful melodies coupled with a warm indie sound.

There are many standouts on this 6-track recording. Singles that have already been released have all been outstanding, including the most recent, “Nineteen”, which brings back all the feels of adolescence. It’s a masterpiece in capturing the emotional pull of your late teens. The last track on the EP, “World So Cruel”, is also an ethereal gem and should be a ripper live.

The band is fronted by Elyssa on vocals, Jye on bass, Rohan on lead guitar, and Toby on drums. The EP was recorded at Damien Gerard’s studio in North Gosford, with Aria award-winning producer Shane Nicholson at the helm.

A couple of shows are lined up in Newcastle to launch the EP. They are also playing at the brilliant Gumball Festival and will be at the Deni Ute Muster. I’ve included the details below. If you see them playing near you, then do run, don’t walk. We need more bands like Elestial in our midst. Fans of The Beths should find plenty to love here.

You can enjoy our premiere of this beautiful EP ahead of Friday’s release.
