Melbourne’s Baby Blue have been gathering a considerable amount of acclaim over the last 12 months, cutting their teeth on the local circuit alongside the likes of Chastity Belt, Rolling Blackouts Coastal Fever and Jordie Lane, while presenting music that has been charming garage-rock fans and newcomers to the sound alike.
As good music should, the sounds of Baby Blue have proven to be in a state of evolution; as their latest single “Fire and Ice” determines, the use of musical texture and the intricacies that sometimes can be lost within the garage and rock genres are very much employed here. And what’s more, it’s a sound that comes across so naturally and easily for the band, it’s great to sink back into.
The official music video for “Fire and Ice” is also another insight into this band on the rise as we centre in on Rhea Caldwell and her band doing their thing.
