For New Zealand’s Tablefox, the start of 2018 is a continuation of the solid momentum last year brought the rockers. With their record You And I Will Find A Way, Tablefox deservedly turned heads – their brand of rock music is versatile enough for the indie and more commercial scenes, though that’s really not what brought us to them.
With a bit of Dinosaur Jr. mixed in with Frightened Rabbit, Tablefox produce driving guitar and percussion, while Clinton Bell‘s vocals don’t lose their evocative punch at any point. Their latest single, “Under a Broken Smile”, celebrates these elements of the band’s musicality, while seeing them explore a newer music direction. Embracing a new line up, Bell has explained how this single came together.
“The track created so much creative turmoil that by the end of the recording process band members had walked out and the song had changed drastically from its original conception. The end result was a stronger, closer line up and one of the most powerful tracks the band has ever produced, setting the scene for the band’s sound as they set out
