The Evening Cast‘s second single from their 2016 studio release Belong, “Distant”, touches on themes of isolation and emptiness – those cold, dark corners one can find themselves in all too often when on the road or simply trying to find a sense of stability or home.
Establishing dreamy soundscapes anchored by well-crafted grooves and harmonies is something the Geelong group have shown themselves to be quite good at through this year and “Distant” has been a gorgeous example of it.
Today, we’re sharing the official music video for the single, which follows the band on tour recently, driving to South Australia along the Western Highway. Footage of the road trip are merged with vocalist Joel Cooper alone singing, again pulling on those themes mentioned above.
The Evening Cast continue to prove themselves as a solid group of musicians moving forward and we can’t wait to see what 2017 brings them – in the meantime, check out “Distant” below.
