South Australia is rightly famous for it’s beautifully balanced wines, but just as alluring is the music created by Tasmanian born, and now Adelaide resident Aaron Thomas. With indie-folk running through its veins, we are thrilled to be premiering “Mouth Of The City”, the latest release from the talented musician ahead of its release on Friday 16th February.
“Mouth of the City” is gorgeous, an intricate and multi-layered delight. With acoustic guitars, eerie harmonies, a searing electric guitar solo, and what sounds like stalking tubas in the night, it has a melancholic feeling to it that is haunting and brooding. On each subsequent listen, this nuanced and richly textured track reveals something new.
About the track, Aaron writes: “The song is about how the world you inhabit touches your mind and influences your behaviour. I fear being in a boring world or safe place and having my spirit and art knocked out of me.”
This is the first release from Aaron since his 2017 EP, Always a Moon. “Mouth Of The City” is the first single from a full-length album which will be released later this year.
Aaron released his debut album in 2008, and has had an extensive career to date. He has performed at a number of festivals locally and abroad, including SXSW (Austin), CMJ (New York), Popkomm (Berlin) and London’s Concrete and Glass, as well as appearing at WOMAdelaide in 2017.
So, ahead of its release on Friday, do enjoy our premiere of “Mouth Of the City”.
