Mulubinba/Newcastle post-punk artist Atlas Franklin Alexander is back with the dreamy and immersive “Young Love”, richly textured and spellbinding, for which we are delighted to be premiering, along with its video ahead of its release on Friday.
This atmospheric beauty features vocoder-enhanced vocals, moody guitars and echoing synths. The production is all class, and it is notable that Atlas produced, mixed and mastered the track himself at his home studio.
Talking about the inspiration behind ‘Young Love’, Atlas writes: “‘Young Love’ features storylines of overcoming adversity and finding the resilience to get back up and keep moving forward. It speaks of finding the strength to keep going even when everything feels like it’s falling apart.”
Atlas directed the evocative video clip with DOP from Dave Fulham. It was shot with friends and showcases their intimate stories. Atlas explains: “Ultimately, I wanted to create a video that would capture the essence of the song and leave the viewer with a sense of curiosity and intrigue, to convey the feeling of being lost in a strange and unique world where things are not quite what they seem. The use of surreal imagery, along with a nonlinear narrative, adds to the spookish enigmatic vibe.”
You will be able to catch Atlas at a couple of shows in Sydney in December, supporting Velvet Trip. See below for further details.
Enjoy our premiere, ahead of the release of “Young Love”‘ on Friday.
