Bree Rusev is only seventeen years old and is making her mark on the folk-rock scene, with her assured and instantly accessible songs. We are thrilled to be premiering her third single to hit the airwaves, “Fade Away”. This follows on from her debut and sophomore releases, “Coastline” and “Drift”.
There is a maturity to the song which belies her 17 years. Already having clocked up the prestige of being a finalist in the ISC (International Songwriting Competition), this should come as no surprise. The acoustic guitar work is assured, and her vocals grab your attention and are strident, without being over-earnest.
Fans of Julia Jacklin, Angel Olsen and Julia Stone should find plenty to love with this track.
Bree writes about the song, “In the chorus of the song, there is a line that says, “time it heals all the things that got in our way’ which I’ve grown a bit to realise is a very relevant thing to remember in life.”
Bree produced the track herself, and it was mastered by Gareth Hudson.
With three singles now out into the ether, the future burns brightly for Bree Rusev. I look forward to seeing how the rest of 2021 unfolds for this talented artist.
“Face Away” will be released this Friday, 23rd April 2021. You can pre-save the track HERE
