Northern Territorian Caiti Baker is about to release her new EP, Dust (Part I), but before that drops we have the Exclusive Single Premiere, and accompanying video of her new single, “Gasoline”.
This song neatly dovetails into the first single off the EP, “Gone”, which dealt with captivity and surrender, of healing and forgiving. This new track screams defiance and resilience. Baker’s vocals shine brightly as the flames flicker, the deft arrangement of keys complementing one of the finest voices in the land. As with “Gone”, the video was produced by acclaimed director Claudia Sangiorgi Dalimore.
This latest brace of songs are powerful and poignant, and symbiotic of an artist who uses her incredible voice to externalise her journey through life.
Caiti, who won herself an ARIA and a National Live Music Award in 2018, describes the song as “a defiant song of independence and strength,” inspired “in a haze, manifesting in an anthem dedicated to all who have experienced any degree of gaslighting or harassment.” In the video, Baker sets her musical creativity on fire, wearing a ‘Matilda Alegria’ aluminium dress as a suit of armour as she dances around the ashes of her past.
Dust (Part 1), is out 8th November, via Settle Down Records. You can pre-save the EP HERE
“Gasoline” a cracking song, and one we are very proud to premiere. Watch and listen here.
