Sometimes you fall for someone, irrespective of the consequences. You know that perhaps it isn’t the smartest thing you’ve done, but you do it anyway. Alt-pop artist Chymes has encapsulated this feeling perfectly in her latest banger, “See You in Hell”. We’re thrilled to be premiering it today, ahead of its release on Friday.
About the track, Chymes says “I wanted to explore lyrically this idea of just completely giving in to someone or something and disregarding if it’s a good idea. Sometimes it’s fun to be a little selfish and stupid and fall head first into something, knowing it’s dangerous but just enjoying the ride,”
She continues, “I think there’s a lot to relate to in a “I’m falling for a f*** boy” type of song, which this song definitely is. I wanted the production to feel dark but still a little playful and fun, it also has this whispery desperate feel to it too which I feel encapsulates the vibe well. Definitely one of my favourite songs I’ve written so far!”
There is a clip to accompany the track. It’s perfectly in sync, with a moody nightclub feel, dark, lights flashing, oozing danger. “You make bad things Taste like heaven” she purrs. Chymes will have you crossing over to the naughty dark side. “See You In Hell” teases, tempts and tantalises.
With a tweet from BTS star Jungkook in 2020, Chymes found a legion of new supporters. Since then she has racked up over eight million streams on Spotify and Apple Music. Locally she has supported the likes of Winston Surfshirt, The Preatures, Lastlings, Tigertown, Alice Ivy, Bad Pony, Evan Klar, San Mei, Austen, and more.
Chymes will be doing an IG LIVE STREAM on Saturday 17th at 10am Sydney time to celebrate the release of “See You In Hell”. She promises to be showcasing the original demo of the song, voice notes from the day she wrote the song and doing a q&a. Set your alarms!
In the meantime, enjoy this first taste of “See You In Hell” from Chymes
