Hailing from Wollongong, Coast & Ocean has already demonstrated a flexible style with singles “Peaches n Cream”, “Cherry Cola”, and “Golden in April”. Now it’s time to switch to a spring aesthetic with “Valentino”, the playful new single that uniquely sketches a coastal vibe onto a seamless blend of R&B and rap and is premiering exclusively on The AU Review today.
Coast & Ocean wrote this while on tour in Europe, but there’s no mistaking that the imprint of the song’s laid-back vibe is most definitely from the breezy NSW coast. Tracking a whirlwind love triangle, Coast & Ocean half raps, half sings over light guitars and xylophones turned in by producer Delipres
“While touring Amsterdam, I dated a gorgeous Dutch fashion designer,” recalls Coast & Ocean. “We ate beautiful food and had the best time going to vintage fashion shops. She said she loved the brand Valentino so I made a seductive song about it.”
And it’s really as simple as that, “Valentino” overflowing with confidence and swagger as the artist notches up another strong single on the path to forthcoming project Doobies World.
