Sydney’s Golden Fang create beautifully immersive rock. They have recently released their sixth album, Small Worlds, and we are thrilled to be premiering the second single from the record, the questioning and restless “How Many Demons”, featuring vocals from Sydney’s Donna Amini.
Reminiscent of early Lou Reed, the earthy vocals of lead singer and songwriter Carl Redfern are exquisitely complemented by those of Donna Amini. “How Many Demons” is an atmospheric and vibrant journey. The rhythm section of drummer Joe Parkin and bassist Justin Tauber provide the framework for Carl to ask those intimate questions about the demons of those that are nearest and dearest to you.
The guitars that weave their web through the track are gorgeous, and they emerge front and centre, dazzling on the extended outro. Carl’s vocals are jam-packed with all the feelings, with Donna’s backing vocals throwing a warm glow around them. As with earlier albums from Golden Fang, the listening experience is entrancing, earmarked by stellar songwriting, and a delivery of vocals that feels personal and worldly.
About the track, Carl writes: “I love ‘Quasimodo’s Dream’ by The Reels. This was an attempt to capture a Golden Fang version of the otherworldly spirit of that song. The song itself is about trying to manage the secret relationships we have with our own and our friends’ inner demons.”
The album was produced by Anth Dymke (Jo Meares, Pony Face). Do give “Home Many Demons” a listen, and then explore the rest of Small Worlds.
