Exclusive Single Premiere: Have A Good Day “Punch-Drunk In Love” (2024)

Have A Good Day

Pop duo Have A Good Day made a splash last year on their debut, with four stellar singles, kicking off with “Somebody, Nobody” and rounding it off in November with the high-energy dance tune “Head Shoulders Knees & Toes”. In great news for fans, they are back this week with a new gem, the sparkling and effervescent “Punch-Drunk In Love”, and we are thrilled to be premiering it ahead of the release on Thursday.

Anyone who has experienced the heady thrill of being knocked sideways by that thing called ‘love’, will resonate with “Punch-Drunk in Love”.  When there are other challenges in your life, the emotions of finding yourself in the all-consuming rush of a new relationship are all the more real. I dig that the lyrics in the song leave room for interpretation. No doubt they are very personal to the songwriter, with the feelings imprinted and the details left a little scant, allowing the listener to find parallels to their own stories. There’s joy yet a hint of external sadness and conflict. This can be overcome by the bonds of this strong new relationship.

There are some strong 80’s inspired synth vibes to “Punch-Drunk in Love”, and the gorgeous impassioned vocals are sweet and powerful. Have A Good Day have artfully encapsulated so many feelings into this track. There’s the push and pull of unbridled love and the external forces that can impede its progress. The duo have hit a new peak in their unique take on passionate indie pop.

The video has a trippy, saturated feel to it, mirroring the dream-like nature of the track. Punch-Drunk indeed. It was directed by Marcus Wong and  James MacCallum. Marcus was also in charge of the filming and editing.
