AU favourites Howlite return this week with their sublime new single “Everything Will Happen”, the title track of the alt-pop trio’s forthcoming third EP. Set for release tomorrow, we’re excited to bring you this exclusive premiere of the single a day early.
“Everything Will Happen” follows on from the release of singles “Still I Find” and “Haircut” in 2023, and sees them once again teaming up with producer JP Fung. The presser describes it as a return to form, but I’d have to disagree, after all for me, there’s been no drop in form. Instead it’s very much a continuation and elevation of the trio’s established sound – sublime, cinematic indie pop delivered at a scale and in style.
According to vocalist and songwriter Alison Thom, the track is “about our human need to find reasons for things; to look for patterns and explanations that help us make sense of things, and how this can sometimes lead us into strange territories of belief and versions of reality. The idea of experiencing the world so differently is something that intrigues and scares me. Because, it’s so easy to think that everyone thinks like we do, or has the same values and ideas.”
Full of beautiful vocals, a dreamy and woozy soundscape to get lost in, and plenty of cloud-like synths; “Everything Will Happen” is a delight from start to finish. Hit play below and get an early listen in before jumping on your favourite steaming service tomorrow to rack up the streams on this one.
“Everything Will Happen” releases Thursday 21st November, with the EP to follow in 2025. The band are also planning a full EP launch in 2025, with local and interstate shows to follow. So keep an eye out for those next year!
