LANKS is the solo project for Will Cuming. Cuming, an Australian native but now residing in Brooklyn, NY is a producer and multi-instrumentalist. He has been working on a double-album, Spirits Pt. 1. and 2. Pt 1. was released late last year and features exclusively guest vocalists. Pt 2. sees LANKS taking control of the microphone, and we are thrilled to be premiering “Cold Blood” which is off this second part of the double-album.
The vocals on “Cold Blood” are hauntingly atmospheric. It drives with a falsetto which tantalises. Beautifully produced, it’s a testament to the skills and creativity of LANKS. This is a tune to play first thing in the morning to get you going, a pick me up in the middle of the day, or one to put on late at night.
Being the ultimate collaborator, LANKS gave us a run-down on how he put together “Cold Blood”- “Originally written at a Native Tongue writing camp in June 2019, with 2 people that both became good friends and I stayed with in LA later that year for a writing trip, Jantine Heij and 10tendo. Jantine is from The Netherlands and is a phenomenal top-line writer, having collaborated with artists such as Skrillex, and 10tendo is an intuitive and exciting producer. This session flowed so naturally, as if we’d all known each other for years.
I brought it to Andrei Eremin and we collaborated, together with Ross Beaton (from Dorsal Fins), Justin Olsson (my drummer), and Anita Hilman (an amazing cellist from Melbourne).”
LANKS is one of those creatives who seems to have collaborated with and/or toured with a bunch of your favourite artists. Amongst his impressive roll-call is RY X, HWLS, Alice Ivy, Rufus Du Sol, Vera Blue, Mallrat, Ngaiire, Woodes, Tia Gostelow and the list goes on.
“Cold Blood” will be released tomorrow, 22nd January 2021. In the meantime, enjoy this enchanting release now.
