There are elements of M. Hofmann’s story that will be familiar to many music fans. He picked up a guitar in his early teens. He plied his trade in various band’s over the years, moving up and down the East Coast, having left his childhood home in Tasmania. Songwriting became a habit, and then he made the decision to strike out on his own.
Cut to 2020. In February he released his debut single, “You Don’t Have To Stay”, and today we’re excited to bring you the premiere of his second single; “Not There Yet”. Recorded in Sydney with Tim McArtney (Lanks, Jarryd James) and mastered by George Goergiadis (Charlie Collins, Ruby Fields, Skeggs), the single sits neatly in the sweet spot of Americana meets alt-80’s, all with a distinctly Australian feel.
According to Hofmann, “Not There Yet”, is a ‘a somewhat sarcastic commentary on a coming of age moment, which in my own case was turning thirty. It’s self reflective, and self deprecating, and yet finishes on the idea that everyone is a work in progress and that’s OK.’
Now two singles in, this promises to be only the beginning for Hofmann, with further singles released and work already underway on a full length record. Obviously touring and launch shows are off the cards at the moment, but keep an ear out for more.
“Not There Yet” is officially released tomorrow, Friday 3rd April. You can find M. Hofmann on Facebook, Instagram, Twitter and via his Official Site.
