2020 has been a prolific year for Tasmanian indie-pop artist Nuria, and she’s showing absolutely no signs of slowing down. On Friday July 31st, she’ll be dropping single number eight for the year, the punchy and powerful “Touch”. If like us, you can’t wait, you’re in luck, as we’re bringing you this exclusive first listen.
“Touch” is a punchy pop track about nights out and human desires. With parts of the country back in lockdown, it perhaps couldn’t come at a better time. We’re all experiencing a bit of lockdown fatigue, tired of being stuck in isolation and craving the euphoria of loud music and a human connection. Here’s what Nuria had to say about the single:
“We all know that feeling right? The burning infatuation and need to have that certain person pressed right up against you. Maybe it’s the night time, maybe it’s the bright lights, maybe it’s your nice eyes, maybe you’re the right guy. Whatever your cocktail is, that animal need for touch is common to all of us”.
“Touch” sees Nuria once again enlisting the production work of Alice Springs-based producer Dave Crowe (Resin Moon). It’s proven to be a productive match, with Crowe really helping bring the best out of each of the tracks he’s worked on. Where previous singles have perhaps emphasised the elegance, emotion and introspection of Nuria’s music, “Touch” really taps into a whole different area. It’s sultry, sizzling and full of spark, capturing nicely those night out on the town vibes.
We might not all be able to enjoy a night out right now. But, for now at least, we can experience it vicariously. Give “Touch” a spin ahead of its official release on Friday.
“Touch” is released July 31st. Keep up to date with Nuria on Facebook and Instagram.
