Ahead of its official release tomorrow, we’re excited to be premiering “Once”, the bright and bold new single from Sydney’s Pirra, which sees the group experimenting with electro and dance elements in collaboration with emerging artist JFT a.k.a. James From Taree.
“Once” is an exciting blend of the band’s classic indie rock vibe with some more electro-pop dance inducing rhythms. It’s upbeat, energetic and joyful stuff that is ready made to get you onto the dance floor and to embrace life’s possibilities. According to vocalist Jess Beck, “at its core, ‘Once’ is about letting go, seizing a moment and being unafraid to change”. Advice we go all do with getting behind every once in a while.
The track is the brainchild of collaborator JFT, who worked on it for about six months, before sending it out to Maxi Smalls Records (JFT’s label), who matched him up with the band. It certainly appears to be a fruitful collaboration, with the new elements brought to the table by JFT, allowing the band to branch out into new musical terrain. Talking about the collaboration Beck said, “We wanted to blend acoustic instruments and a live band with electronic production, we even managed to sneak in some mandolin.”
“Once” will be officially released February 22nd. You can catch Pirra live over the next couple of weeks, including a support slot for Mosquito Coast this Saturday. You can also find them on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.
