Alice Springs based producer Resin Moon has found his voice in a town so rich in culture, camaraderie and artistic experimentation. As he recalls, the artist found his home in remote Central Australia follows a few years of travelling and trying to find hone his craft, a path to self-discovery which has led to his latest single “The Middle”.
Premiering today on the AU review, “The Middle” is the latest from Resin Moon and has the endearing sound of an artist who has well and truly found peace, nodding heavily to Alice Springs and what the surrounding landscape means to him.
For the single, Resin Moon managed to get his hands on the rare Yamaha CS 80, tinkering with it at Melbourne’s MESS Studio before completing the rest of the song at his own studio in Alice Springs. And it’s that throwback synth sound that helps give the song a spiritual quality, particularly on the wide-open, celebratory chorus which highlights Resin Moon’s pop sensibility.
“I was struggling to get the chorus to gel together, so I got fellow NT musician Broadwing to add his vocal layers in the chorus and bridge, which was the secret ingredients to glue the mix together,” explains the artist, who was afforded more time to work in the studio due to not rehearsing or playing any gigs as of late.
Though Resin Moon laments the loss of the NT’s famous Wide Open Space festival this year, things are in full swing for him with such a strong, punchy single. You can stream it below.
