It’s always exciting when a debut release lands in our inbox, and we were blown away by the first listen of “Carry Me Home”, from Rhys Coventry. We are super pumped to have the premiere of this uplifting slice of indie-folk, ahead of its release on Friday.
“Carry Me Home” is about being surrounded by your nearest and dearest when you are out on the town. About being with those you care about when ‘last orders’ is shouted and seemingly against all the odds, you get home safely.
Coventry is a talented songwriter, and in this track, he paints a vivid picture of nights out that so many of us can relate to.
“Late nights are better with you, better with you, late nights are better
‘Cause when the lights are off and everyone is gone, I choose you to carry me home”
About the track, and his ambitions for his debut, he writes: “Carry Me Home is an upbeat, foot-stomping singalong, that I could see being played at parties, on road trips, in the shower, and basically whenever your down to have some fun & loosen up. This is the song I always imagined as my first single, so I didn’t want to hold back while recording in the studio. “
His vocals are warm and familiar, the production world-class and the lyrics draw you in. We can’t wait to hear more from Rhys Coventry.
“Carry Me Home” was recorded by the talented Garrett Kato (Pete Murray, Ziggy Alberts, Jem Cassar Daley). It is the lead single from his forthcoming EP, Daybreak, to be released later in the year.
