Exclusive Single Premiere: Sam Marks “Eventide” (2020)

Sydney singer-songwriter Sam Marks is just about to drop his latest summer-laced track “Eventide” and we are thrilled to be having the first listen of it before its release on Friday. An experienced musician who has played in many bands over the years, it’s a recent journey for Marks to be releasing music under his solo identity. “Eventide” follows on from “Ellie Mae” which he released in September.

“Eventide” is a reflection from Marks on how sometimes it’s just not possible to be with the person we want to be with, but not in a mournful way. This notion resonates particularly loudly at the moment for many. He describes his own experience which was the genesis for the song: “It is largely an evocation of my time briefly spent with someone in San Francisco while travelling through California in 2018. The story is one of nostalgia, reflecting on our dreamy evening adventures through the enchanting city, most particularly, walking alongside the water from the Musée Mécanique to the Golden Gate Bridge.”

“Eventide” is awash with reverb guitars, with his warm upbeat vocals and sweet harmonies chiming in to keep this tune ripping along. This is a celebration of happy nostalgia. Close your eyes and be transported to your happy place.

The track was produced with the help of Callum Howell (Ocean Alley) at Forbes Street Studios in Sydney.

“Eventide” will be released on Friday, 27th November 2020. Presave HERE. In the meantime, enjoy this exclusive premiere.
