Exclusive Single Premiere: STAHR “All Night Long” (2024)

It’s always a thrill to be showcasing music from bands very much in their infancy, and today we are stoked to be premiering “All Night Long”,  the second single for Brisbane duo STAHR. STAHR is an alternative rock band born from the collaboration of folk artist Gracie Lou and alt-rock visionary Sam Syrah.

“All Night Long” is sultry and intoxicating. The two protagonists in the tale are would-be lovers. As their eyes meet across the bar, will they or won’t they?  It’s a fleeting moment with potential forever-and-ever consequences. Sam and Gracie have captured the tension beautifully with smoky late-night vibes, cabaret pianos, electrifying guitars and vocals that caress and demand answers. The pull is tantalising as more instruments are brought into the mix. There is a swagger that is irresistible. It reminds me of the smouldering vibes of The Kills at their best.

“All Night Long” was recorded with Samuel Woods (Juno, Dizzy Days, The Dandys) over a period of three days. The band shared with the AU how much they enjoyed the process:

“Working with Sam Woods feels like a privilege every time. He is able to tap into the energy in the room effortlessly and steer the ship in a direction you want, even if you don’t know it yet. He’s the unofficial third member of this project. But I guess he’s also that for half of Brisbane as well.”

The duo take their influence from a variety of sources. From Arctic Monkeys to Daisy Jones & The Six, Boy & Bear to Fleetwood Mac, there is drama, melodies and emotive hooks aplenty amongst this list.

In their short time together, STAHR has already soldout a headline show at the Bearded Lady, and will be opening for Boy and Bear at The Tivoli later in the year. They are a band very much on the rise. Enjoy our premiere of “All Night Long”, which will be available on streaming services from the 12th June 2024.
