Exclusive Single Premiere: The Southern Dukes “Free Man” (2025)

The Southern Dukes

We always get very excited when we are premiering the debut single for an artist, and today we have the absolute joy in showcasing “Free Man”, the first single from Perth’s country/rock band, The Southern Dukes.

Like all good country rock songs, this one tells a tale, and it’s a mighty fine tale indeed. “Free Man” covers the escape from Alcatraz Island and the mastermind behind the escape, Frank Morris. It’s taut and energetic, building the tension through the blistering guitars from lead guitarist Justin Grimm. Brandon Poletti‘s vocals transport us to that mad dash from the notorious prison. The drums from Miles Gilbert and bassline of Rily Burrows help bring this rollocking tale home.

The genesis of The Southern Dukes lies within their love of country rock, but there are some lovely blues vibes flowing through this one as well. The track was produced by Justin Grimm.

You might have spotted some of the band members in a previous incarnation, The Eagleton Brothers, where they won the WA Country Group of the Year under this title.  Brandon Poletti also won the West Australian Male Country Artist of the Year. These boys are bringing some serious talent and experience to the table.

Get swept away by this emotive and rockin’ tale of escape from The Southern Dukes. We can’t wait to hear more!
