This week Melbourne-based collaborators VANTA and Ruyi release their latest single: “Blue September”. It’s a striking slice of alternative pop, and we’re excited to bring you this exclusive first listen ahead of its release on Friday.
The friends turned collaborators have spent the last eleven months working on blending and complementing each others diverse range of influences and musical flavours. The result is “Blue September”, a captivating blend of synths, drums, and distinctive vocals. The interplay between the two vocals and their contrasting nature really help set the single apart. That guitar outro from VANTA doesn’t hurt either.
Here’s what both artists had to say about the meaning behind the new single. According to VANTA, the song explores the idea, ”That there’s poetry in everyday life. That breakup, that hookup, that trip back home, that first show, that last call. The world can be as plain or as beautiful as you want it to be, all depends on the lens. That’s why I write the way that I do.” Meanwhile, Ruyi says, “I hope people are okay to just feel what they need to feel and be honest with themselves and others. Everyone feels sad sometimes, everyone feels lost sometimes, and that’s okay.”
