Earlier this year, Sydney indie-electronic producer Billy Fox launched his latest single, “Let’s Be Honest”. It’s an absolute cracker of a track, packed with sultry RNB grooves, and accompanied by a killer video from director Alex Campbell.
Now, with the release of his EP Lung just around the corner, we’ve got an exclusive look at a stripped back live performance of the song, featuring in demand session guitarist Cameron Henderson, fresh from touring with Sydney trio Middle Kids . Check it out!
Fox envisioned the track as a reminder to himself (and the rest of us!) that we can always grow and better ourselves. Relationships, he says, are key to allowing this to happen, like “holding a big mirror up to ourselves and challenging us to do better”.
This pared back version of “Let’s Be Honest” came about during a jam session with Henderson. Fox says:
“It felt really nice to let the song breathe and allow the listener to really digest what is being played and said in this song. After finishing the arrangement, we filmed at the beautiful Brooklyn at Hibernian in Sydney with collaborator Chris Kakoliris begins the lens. I hope you enjoy LBH in a totally different light.”
Fox’s soulful, sexy vocals and funk-laden rhythms have been wowing crowds all across the country with sold out headline shows and support slots for the likes of Glass Animals, Sahara Beck, Harts and The Aston Shuffle.
And after a hugely busy 2018, Fox isn’t ready to slow down just yet. EP Lung releases tomorrow (May 3rd), and he’ll be marking the occasion with a launch party that night at Sydney’s Vanguard. Henderson will also be making an appearance, so expect some mean slide guitar to accompany Fox’s already pretty slick sound. Grab your tickets here!
In the meantime, you can get a head start on the singalong by pre-ordering the EP on iTunes and Google Play here.
