At only twenty years old, Brisbane’s Jem Cassar-Daley is impressing all with your powerful voice and magnetic stage presence. She recently released her debut single, “Letting Go”, and we are thrilled today to be premiering the video for this outstanding first-up release. The track shows great maturity and has a beautiful upbeat vibe. The production is slick and nuanced. Fans of Missy Higgins should find plenty of love here. It should come as no surprise that Jem is the daughter of the great Troy Cassar-Daley.
The song was co-written with established songwriter Garret Kato in Ocean Shores, in Northern NSW. Jem says “I wrote the song with Garrett in his studio over two sessions. I walked into the first session with an open mind and no particular idea of what I wanted to write about. We started jamming on the guitar and keys and the song started to take shape from there!”
Expanding further “This song to me is all about learning how to let go of negative thoughts and feelings of self- doubt. Whether its work-related, a relationship or waking up anxious after a big night, most of us know the feeling far too well. Garrett and I wanted to make this song quite subjective and not too specific, so everyone can relate it to their own narrative. ‘Letting Go’ also touches on having a long lost lover, friend or family member that you finally reconnect with and how they have helped through difficult times. It’s about personal growth, change, and appreciation for the ones around you,”
The clip was directed and filmed by Rare Squid Creative in Toowoomba and Point Cartwright on the Sunshine Coast QLD.
Jem has some shows lined up in Queensland in October and November. Details below.
